Formartine and Buchan Way Cycle Trail, opened in the early 1990s is considered to be one of Scotland’s best trails. A safe trail for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders. It follows a former railway line from Dyce to Maud Village where it splits; east to Peterhead and north to Fraserburgh.
It starts at Dyce Railway station and runs for 25 miles through rural Aberdeenshire to Maud. Sometimes called The Buchan Way, it passes through, or near to, place of interest such as Aden Country Park, Drinnies Wood Observatory, Strichen Stone Circle plus Deer Abbey.
A trail 53 miles long, all off road and mostly flat, the landscape is always changing.
