Giant Manufacturing Co.Ltd commonly known as Giant Bicycles, is a Taiwanese bicycle manufacturer. It was founded in 1972 by King Liu in Dajia, Taichung County, Taiwan. Initially, the company started as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) producing bicycles for other brands under a different brand name. The first Giant-branded bicycles were introduced in 1981.
Giant has always been known as a pioneer in introducing innovative technologies to the cycling world. For example they were among the first to use lightweight materials like aluminum in their bike frames. In the 1990s, they introduced the compact geometry frame design, which has since become a standard in the industry.
In the early 1990s, Gaint sponsored a number of successful mountain biking teams making them well known in the mountain biking world. Since then Giant have expanded its product range to include road bikes, hybrid bikes, electric bikes (e-bikes), and more.
