Peugeot bicycles have a long and lineage history going back to the early 19th century. The Peugeot brand, mainly known now for the cars, actually began manufacturing various products such as coffee mills and bicycles. The family bicycle business started in the 19th century.

In the late 1800s Armand Peugeot, the grandson of the company’s founder, Emile Peugeot, was instrumental in the development of Peugeot bikes.

Peugeot bicycles gained a good reputation via their success in racing events. Peugeot sponsored riding teams took part in many races, and their wins helped promote them and establish it as a reliable and high-quality cycle maker.

Peugeot was well known for innovations in bicycle design and introduced many new features into their bicycles, They were one of the first companies to fit pneumatic tires and promote them.

In the 20th century Peugeot continued to grow its bicycle production with a wide range of models, road bikes, city bikes, racing bikes. The Peugeot PX-10, a popular racing bike, becoming an iconic model.

Peugeot collaborated with other big names in the cycling world. They worked with Reynolds to introduce steel tubing for their bike frames which increased performance and quality. In the late 20th century, the popularity of Peugeot bicycles started to fade as they faced more competition from other cycle manufacturers so they then focused more on car production leading to a decline in bicycle production.

While their cycles are not as widely available or recognized as before, Peugeot bicycles still have a following from enthusiasts and collectors. Whilst Peugeot still continues to make bicycles, they are now focused on car production.
